BBR Staff Writer Published 16 January 2012

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) has appointed Sreeram Iyer as COO for Asia Pacific, Europe and America (APEA), effective 30 January 2012.

Iyer will be responsible for operations, technology, legal and compliance, property, sourcing, transformation and major programs.

Based in Singapore, Iyer will report to CEO APEA, Alex Thursby, and group COO, Alistair Currie.

Prior to joining ANZ, Iyer was most recently regional COO of India and South Asia at Standard Chartered Bank.

Iyer has over 25 years of experience, including 18 years at Standard Chartered Bank, in diverse functions across different disciplines and geographies.

Thursby said as APEA COO, Sreeram's responsibilities will be to build and strengthen ANZ's infrastructure to deliver their super regional strategy. This will help their businesses grow with a customer focus, while keeping a close control on cost, risk management and processes.
